The UP government has approved the Uttar Pradesh Lekhpal Service (Fourth Amendment) Rules-2022. In this, the right of recruitment to the posts of Lekhpal has been provided to the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission in place of Revenue Council. In the original post 26337, additional 4500 posts of Lekhpal have been also merged and now this number has become 30837.

In April 2022, a total of 11328 posts of Lekhpal were recruit at present, the recruitment procedure is going on for 8085 posts. The way for Job to the remaining 3243 posts has been cleared soon.

The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister on Tuesday. In the year 2017, the UP state government had given the right of recruitment to the job of Lekhpal to the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission, but it was not arranged in the manual. Now it has been provisioned.

On 27 February 2015, 1308 posts of Revenue Inspector were created by abolishing 900 posts of Lekhpal and 408 posts of Sankar Amin. This left only 26337 posts of Lekhpal. After this 5000 additional posts of Lekhpal were created on 21 May 2015 on the basis of need.
