Agneepath Yojana In view of the massive protests against the Agneepath scheme, the Central Government on Saturday announced 10 percent reservation for candidates in the recruitment of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles.

The Ministry of Home Affairs also decided to relax their eligibility criteria from 17.5 years to 21 years by three years for the recruitment of candidates in CAPFs and Assam Rifles. Exclusively the first batch of recruits will get a relaxation of five years over and above the prescribed upper age limit.

The Center unveiled the Agneepath Yojana for the Armed Forces on Tuesday, 14 June 2022 amidst protests in different cities of the country regarding this scheme; the Home Ministry has made a big announcement on Saturday.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to reserve 10 per cent vacancies for candidates for recruitment in the Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles.

• Earlier, describing the Agneepath scheme as a visionary decision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said that the new recruitment scheme for the armed forces will provide a bright future to the youth. Along with this, the Home Minister had told that a detailed plan was going on for the recruitment of candidates in CAPF and Assam Rifles.

BSF and CRPF Recruitment 2022: More than 73000 posts

• At present more than 73000 vacancies are vacant in five wings of paramilitary forces namely Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Indo Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Shastra Seema BAL (SSB) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).  Candidates can apply for this recruitment soon.

•  The Defense job seekers have expressed concern about their next move, as only 25 per cent candidates of the soldiers recruited through the scheme will be retained for the permanent job after completion of four years. Youth recruited through Agneepath scheme and not absorbed will be given relief without pension benefits
