Bihar government led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has launched Bal Hriday Scheme (BHY) on 9 April 2022. In this scheme, the state govt will provide free treatment to children suffering from medical condition of hole in heart or ventricular septal defects. • The state govt. of Bihar has started Bal Hriday Yojana 2022 for free medical assistance to children’s. At the launch ceremony, the Chief Minister flagged off a bus carrying 21 children to Patna airport for special treatment, leaving for Ahmedabad (Gujarat) with the condition..
• These children would be given additional specialized medical treatment at the Ahmedabad-based hospital run by the Prashanti Medical Services & Research Foundation with which the state government has an agreement so that free medical treatment and care could be provide to these children.
• The BHY ceremony was organized outside the dialogue in the presence of Education Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Health Minister Pandey, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, and Principal Secretary Health Department Pratyaya Amrit and other senior officials. After the meeting, 21 children and their parents spoke to media persons and wished them successful treatment.

• The CM said that other states have also entered into similar agreement with Ahmedabad hospital for specialized medical treatment. The CM also said that BHY was discussed and conceived last year and then linked to seven Nishchay Part 2 programs of the government, which also got cabinet approval after the assembly elections.
• The scheme started on Thursday, but it was launched on Friday, the CM also said, adding additional medical treatment is given to the children afflicted with heart-related ailments. Earlier, the diagnosis of the 21 children suffering from a hole in their hearts was complete at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Cardiology (IGIC) and Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) here, later the doctors of PMSRF Hospital in Ahmedabad arrived and also examined them.
• The CM said that the government will bear the entire travel expenditure of the 21 children and their guardians, besides the money spent on their treatment, as BHY gives free additional medical & health care to the children afflicted with heart-related ailments.
• He said that the government would see that similar arrangements would be made in Patna in future. Besides, when the 21 children return after treatment, health minister Mangal Pandey and the health department officials will present the information. Regarding the mysterious disease that surfaced in Nawada, the CM said that a team of doctors and experts has been sent there to investigate all possible aspects of the mysterious disease.
