In the wake of massive protests against the Agneepath Yojana, the central government on Saturday announced 10 percent reservation for Agniveers in the vacancy of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Assam Rifles.

The Ministry of Home Affairs also decided to relax their eligibility criteria from 17.5 years to 21 years by three years for the recruitment of Agniveers in CAPFs and Assam Rifles. Exclusively the first batch of recruits will get a relaxation of five years over and above the prescribed upper age limit.

• Defense job seekers have expressed concern about their next move, as only 25 per cent of the soldiers recruited through the scheme will be retained for full tenure after completion of four years.
